The winner of the IGLA T-Shirt Design Contest is Patrick Davison of Ames, Iowa.
With 12 designs submitted, it was no easy task for the Iowa Great Lakes Association team to choose a winner, yet in the end it was Patrick’s design that incorporated so many facets of our extraordinary community that won over the committee.
When asked what inspired his design, here’s what Patrick had to say:
“For the design I wanted to make something on first impression it was obvious it is about Iowa. So I started with the shape of our state for the outline of the art. After that, I wanted to fill it full of everything that comes to mind when I think of the Iowa Great Lakes. I have been to Okoboji numerous times and wanted to include elements of amusement park, fireworks, boating, etc.
I am a big fan of fishing, and have a tradition of visiting every November to test my luck with walleye. I am a strong supporter for anything we can do to help our environment. I believe if we can continue to respect the lakes and land, future people will get to enjoy the great experience like we have.”
Patrick understands the significance of preserving, protecting and enhancing our Iowa Great Lakes and his design speaks to our mission.
Patrick receives the following prizes for his winning design:
1. Overnight Stay & $50 gift certificate to The Inn at Okoboji
2. Jacket & $50 gift certificate from the Okoboji Store
3. $50 gift certificate from Prairie Chick
4. Dozen cookies from Hey, Good Cookies
5. Large Godfather’s pizza
6. Hat & t-shirt from the new Okoboji Indian/Victory/Slingshot
7. University of Okoboji blanket from The The Three Sons
The shirts will be available during the Okoboji Blue Water Fest, a festival in which IGLA is a proud sponsor on Saturday, August 13th on Preservation Plaza in Arnolds Park. A performance by world-class artist, Boz Skaggs, will be an amazing end to a day of protecting, preserving and celebrating the Iowa Great Lakes.
