(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation announced today (Tuesday) the cancellation of its “Celebrating our Founders and our Future Event” that was scheduled for this coming June 27th, due to COVID-19.
In a statement, the foundation’s board of directors say they feel responsible for the safety of all their guests and wouldn’t want someone to become ill as the result of attending the event. They also express appreciation to those who have supported the foundation over the years. They also encourage everyone to be philanthropic during this time and to continue to support their favorite organizations.
The statement goes on to say the Okoboji Foundation Board of Directors have put the foundation on solid ground by building an Operations Endowment to cover annual operating expenses. It also states that many nonprofit organizations rely on their fundraising events to cover annual operations, so they are taking a step back to allow more support for them this year.
