In the last weekend in January, locals and tourists flock to West Okoboji and the surrounding communities to celebrate Winter Games Weekend! People bundled up to enjoy the ice, whether it was broom ball or softball. Others snowmobiled, ice skated or did the bean bag toss. In the afternoon, people ran in the 5k and 10k and over 125 people took the polar plunge, braving the fierce cold. If being out in the cold wasn’t your thing, the BojiBay pavilion hosted a children’s carnival put on by Season’s Center. The Expo Building hosted the Hey Good Cookies cookies eating contest and the Chocolate Classic. Lots of activities and lots of fun, all topped off with the Burning of the Greens and fireworks out on the ice. A great weekend at the Iowa Great Lakes!
